Planetary Earth Gong

In our everyday lives of mortgage payments, taxes, traffic jams, near destruction and treasured moments, it is easy to lose touch with our inherent wholeness. Perhaps at some deep level we all, in a shared moment of consciousness, have designed gurus, saints, buddhas and gods as vessels of learning — each a relic of discovery to awaken the Divine that is innate within us. In the moment that the Planetary Earth Gong is first heard and the mind enters a state of natural bliss, a gift is seeded.

That gift is at our very core and available to each of us if we choose to listen.

Like a stone thrown into a calm pool of water the harmonic resonance and overtones of the Planetary Earth Gong ignite the surface of existence, touching the very primordial nucleus within each devotee. Just as the stone awakens the pool’s surface in ever expanding circles, the voices of the Gong embrace and guide each listener into synchronization with the Universal Life Force. Consciousness is altered; reality reshaped, and each listener is transported into expanded states of meditative dimensions.

Within this state of tranquility and balance the experience of mental, spiritual and physical healing is attained. The Gong’s reverberations touch the Bodhi self within all, escorting each into deeper understandings of the Dharma. It is ‘Voidness’ teaching, the sound of ‘AUM,’ the resonance of life, the universal chord.

Creation in all of its vast diversities is the reflection of the omnipresent being manifested within time and space through sound. The ancient mantra ‘Aum Mani Padma Hum’ — the dewdrop slips into the ocean as the ocean slips into the dewdrop — mirrors that undiminished, interdependent nature of life. Duality ends and the true essence of reality, undivided and yet individually distinct, is revealed.

Richard Rudis (Sonam Dorje) has studied Eastern philosophy and Buddhism in Asia and in the US for over twenty five years and is an American practitioner of Vajrayana Buddhism. He is a long-time pilgrim and guide to sacred sites in Asia, and in 1996, while in Tibet, he was granted refuge in the Buddha from His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa and was given the Tibetan name Sonam Dorje (Meritorious Thunderbolt). He has been teaching Sacred Sound workshops and offering group healing sessions known as Gong Baths with the Himalayan (Buddhist) Sacred Sound Instruments across the US for over twelve years. Richard is considered most knowledgeable in this esoteric field.
