Nationally known sound healer, author and recording artist Diáne Mandle was born to a French mother and American father and spent her childhood traveling between Southern France and the US. Drawing from two language and two cultures she developed a sensibility to sound and rhythm in a very practical manner. Later, she was especially drawn to the polyrhythmic character of African and Latin music and traveled extensively learning to dance in these cultures.

Diáne obtained a Masters degree in cross-cultural communication with a thesis in African music. Continuing to search for a way to help people on a deep level, she worked as a Life Coach but felt there was still something missing that needed to be integrated and that brought her love of movement, sound and multiculturalism into her every day life.

Discovering polarity therapy, Diáne was greatly attracted to this modality of moving and balancing energy. It was a welcome addition to her model for wholeness. She attended and helped to conduct workshops on Energy Balancing at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, and obtained certification in Polarity at the Polarity Realization Institute. Several years later, when she experienced sound healing for the first time, she knew she had finally found what she was searching for.

After a two-year course of study of Tibetan bowls, Diáne was eventually certified and individually mentored by Richard Rudis (Sonam Dorje), founder of Sacred Sound Workshops, and a pioneer in the arena of Sound Healing. When Richard retired from conducting healings and devoted himself instead to teaching, he passed the ‘sound healer’ torch on to Diáne. She has been practicing Sound Healing since 2000, and in 2004, became California’s first Certified Tibetan Bowl Practitioner/Instructor. She has traveled to Nepal, India and Tibet to select high quality instruments and to further immerse herself in her studies and understanding of the cultures that sound healing instruments come from, bringing that knowledge to her sound healing practice.

Diáne believes that our memories, in the form of energy, are stored in our muscles, cells and organs, and that we are unconscious about most of the attitudes, beliefs and behaviors that drive our lives. “When we are out of energetic alignment — which we mostly are — our blocked or weak energy creates dis-ease. Sound healing offers an integrated approach to healing that combines cognitive, spiritual, and physical elements to obtain the vibrational alignment we need in order to be whole and healthy,” she said.

Her current work includes educational workshops, trainings and national concerts. She is associated with the San Diego Cancer Center as one of its Complementary Therapy Team members, and offers regular sessions to their patients. In response to an increasing demand for skilled sound healing practitioners, in June 2008, in association with Sacred Sound Workshops, she opened the Tibetan Bowl Sound Healing School.

Diáne has appeared on numerous radio and television programs and been published in a multitude of journals, magazines, and blogs. To date she has produced two acclaimed CDs, Return to Om and Sarasvati’s Dream, as well as two books: Ancient Sounds For A New Age: Introduction to Himalayan Sacred Sound Instruments and How To Clear Space With Sound Using Tibetan Bowls & Tingshas.
